Video Abstracts
An “abstract” is a short summary of a research article that provides a quick overview of the most important parts of the study. A video abstract is like a written abstract, only in video form. Video abstracts can help people quickly understand research by providing overviews of the results and importance of the study. Video abstracts are a way for the Envirome to share back the results of our research with the people in Louisville who care about and support our environmental health research.
Climate and Health
In this video, Envirome Institute researcher, Dr. Natasha DeJarnett, discusses her work around climate and health research.
Omega-3 Fatty Acids
In this video abstract, Elle Farley describes her work on the article "Omega-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids modify the inverse association between systemic inflammation and cardiovascular fitness". This study suggests that omega-3 fatty acids' anti-inflammatory benefits are gained through exercise. Exercise increases the quality of life and lowers all-cause mortality, likely by preventing cardiovascular disease by reducing chronic inflammation, although individual responses vary and factors that contribute to the anti-inflammatory effects of cardiovascular fitness remain largely undefined.
